The Gray Old Man is terrifying

Just watched WOLF MOON and I am shaking. The scene where the Gray Old Man transforms in the hallway is pure nightmare fuel. The sound design when his bones crack is so visceral. I couldn't look away even though I wanted to scream. This short film knows exactly how to mess with your head.

Sienna deserves better

Poor Sienna running for her life while trying to keep the group together. The panic in her eyes when she asks what that was felt so real. WOLF MOON captures that teenage horror vibe perfectly. You can tell she is the heart of the group trying to stay calm while everything falls apart around them in that creepy school.

That hallway atmosphere though

The lighting in WOLF MOON is insane. Those flickering fluorescent lights in the wet hallway create such dread. Every reflection on the floor makes you expect something to jump out. The production value for a short film is crazy high. It feels like a full budget movie trapped in a phone screen.

Student transformation scene

When the Student fell and those veins started spreading on his face... I actually gasped. WOLF MOON does not waste time with jump scares, it builds genuine dread. The way the infection spreads visually is both beautiful and disgusting. Definitely going to be dreaming about that tonight.

No signal trope but it works

Of course there is no signal when they try to call for help. Classic horror move but WOLF MOON makes it feel fresh because of the urgency. Watching them run through those dark corridors holding hands had me on the edge of my seat. The desperation is palpable and real.

The monster design is unique

That skeletal face reveal on the Gray Old Man is something I have not seen before. WOLF MOON really pushed the boundaries on creature design. The way half his face rots away while he speaks is haunting. It is not just a generic zombie, it feels like something ancient and evil.

Running scene tension

The chase sequence down the stairs had me holding my breath. WOLF MOON understands that sometimes running is scarier than fighting. The camera shaking as they sprint makes you feel like you are running with them. That door closing at the end gave me such relief and anxiety at once.

Sound design appreciation

Can we talk about the audio in WOLF MOON? The echoing footsteps in the empty school halls amplify the isolation. When the Gray Old Man speaks, his voice distorts in a way that chills your spine. Headphones are mandatory for this experience. It surrounds you completely.

That ending hand shot

The final shot of the black gloved hand sliding under the door is such a strong cliffhanger. WOLF MOON leaves you knowing they are not safe yet. It implies the monster can reach them anywhere. I need the next part immediately because I cannot wait to see what happens next.

School setting done right

Using an abandoned school for WOLF MOON was a brilliant choice. Everyone has that fear of dark school hallways after hours. The lockers and wet floors trigger so many primal fears. It turns a familiar place into a hunting ground. Now I am scared of my own local high school.
