The CGI on her transformation in My Mom Rules the Zombies! is actually top tier for a short drama. Seeing her hug her daughter before going full monster mode broke my heart though.

Can we talk about the male lead smiling while covered in blood right before the chaos started? It felt so out of place until the crowd turned. The pacing in My Mom Rules the Zombies! is wild, going from celebration to absolute terror in seconds. That scream when he saw the zombies climbing the wall had me jumping!
Mother Daughter Bond Is Real
The emotional core of this show is surprisingly strong. The way the zombie mom recognized her daughter even in that state was powerful. One minute they are cheering for the soldiers, the next they are running for their lives. The background actors really sold the panic. The transition from hope to despair is the best part of My Mom Rules the Zombies!. You can feel the tension in the air when the ground started shaking.

The guy rushing to check on the fallen soldier showed so much desperation. His face when he realized she was gone was pure agony. It adds a layer of tragedy to My Mom Rules the Zombies! that makes you care about the side characters too. Not just about the main monsters.

Okay I missed this the first time. When she transformed, she literally lifted off the ground while holding her daughter. The power scaling in My Mom Rules the Zombies! is getting out of hand but I love it. What else can she do? Can she shoot lasers next? Please say yes.
The Makeup Is Detailed
Look closely at the mom's face before she changes. The veins and the red eyes were subtle but creepy. Then the full monster look is just next level. My Mom Rules the Zombies! puts a lot of effort into the practical effects mixed with digital. It makes the horror feel more real.
That Scream At The End
The audio design when she roared was intense. It shook the screen! The male lead's reaction shot right after was priceless. He went from confident to terrified so fast. My Mom Rules the Zombies! knows how to deliver a cliffhanger that makes you click the next episode immediately.
Protective Mom Vibes
Even as a zombie overlord, she is still a mom first. She cradled her daughter so gently despite looking like a weapon. That duality is what makes My Mom Rules the Zombies! stand out. It is not just mindless eating, there is emotion behind the violence. Truly a unique take on the genre.
