That samurai warlord is absolutely terrifying. The way he crushed those two heroes without breaking a sweat set the stakes so high. His manic laughter while burning the village makes you hate him instantly. It makes Chen Fan's eventual comeback so much more satisfying. You really feel the despair before the system kicks in.
Nothing beats the sound of that system notification when you are about to die. The blue screen appearing just as the bald guy draws his sword was perfect timing. Going from combat power 1 to invincible status instantly changes the whole vibe. Chen Fan's face going from fear to a creepy smile gave me goosebumps.
The contrast between the dark, fiery ruins and the bright green grass where Chen Fan wakes up is striking. It visually represents his rebirth. The close-ups on his bloody hand clenching showed his determination before he even knew he had powers. The animation quality during the battle scenes was top tier.
Those two thugs laughing at Chen Fan have no idea what is coming. The bald guy pointing his sword at him is the last mistake he will ever make. I love how the story sets up these arrogant bullies just to knock them down a peg. Chen Fan's power-up in the field is the start of a legendary revenge arc.
I was actually tearing up when Chen Fan was crying in the grass. The trauma of losing everything is portrayed so well. Then the system activates and his expression shifts to pure joy. It is a wild ride. Lv. 1 Legend? Sweet. is such a fitting tagline for a protagonist who gets a second chance at life.
Usually overpowered protagonists are boring, but here it feels earned because we saw him suffer first. The jump to 99999999 combat power is ridiculous but fun. Watching him stand up and glow with golden energy while his enemies look confused is iconic. This is the kind of instant gratification I live for.
The scene where the warlord breaks the golden artifact was so intense. The light exploding from his hands signaled that the world was about to change. Then cutting to the peaceful village being destroyed added so much tension. The pacing from the big battle to the personal struggle of Chen Fan is excellent.
Chen Fan's design with the white hair and tattered clothes makes him look like a classic underdog. The villains in the black robes with red sashes look menacing and distinct. The girl in the white dress appearing in his memory adds a layer of mystery. Everyone looks unique and fits their role perfectly.
The look on the bald thug's face when Chen Fan starts glowing is going to be priceless. I can already imagine their jaws dropping. The shift from bullying a weakling to facing a god is going to be hilarious. This episode set up the perfect trap for the antagonists. Can not wait for the next fight.
The emotional whiplash in this episode is insane. Watching Chen Fan go from a broken, crying mess on the battlefield to laughing maniacally with 99 million power is pure dopamine. The transition from the tragic burning city to the sunny field felt like waking up from a nightmare. Lv. 1 Legend? Sweet. perfectly captures that moment he realizes he is no longer the victim.
