Can we talk about how ruthless the Queen is? She calls Sparrow a tool and tells her to learn decorum right after ruining her life. The way she sits on that golden throne looking down on everyone is iconic villain energy. I love how (Dubbed) The Queen Saw It Through captures this toxic family dynamic perfectly.
The woman in the purple dress training Jade is terrifying. She uses magic to hurt her and calls her pathetic. The scene where she makes Jade kneel by the water under the moonlight is so tense. You can feel the hatred radiating off her. Definitely the antagonist I love to hate in this series.
My heart breaks for Sparrow. She lived in the mire for sixteen years and now they only want her for a sacrifice. The flashback to the monsters in the forest shows how hard her life was. Seeing her realize her royal blood is just a curse now is heartbreaking. She is so strong despite everything.
The cinematography in this short is stunning. From the golden phoenix throne room to the misty bamboo forest at night, every frame looks like a painting. The lighting when the Queen speaks is dramatic and moody. Even the CGI birds and monsters look surprisingly good for a mobile app show.
I did not expect the Night Wolf Clan to be asking for a princess as a sacrifice. The way the Queen just hands over her own daughter without blinking is shocking. It adds such a dark layer to the story. (Dubbed) The Queen Saw It Through really does not hold back on the cruelty of this fantasy world.
You can see the anger building in Jade's eyes. She went from crying and begging to staring with pure rage. When she said not one of them will escape, I got goosebumps. She is done being a victim. I cannot wait to see her take revenge on the Phoenix Clan and that mean trainer.
The scene where Jade is forced to walk in the heavy red gown is painful to watch. The trainer yells at her to keep her shoulders back and mocks her walking. It feels like abuse rather than teaching. But it makes me root for Jade even more to overcome this cruel treatment and master her powers.
The relationship between the Queen and Jade is so messed up. The Queen claims it is for the clan but treats her like dirt. Jade realizing her mother is just like the others who hurt her is a powerful moment. The dialogue about noble sounding words hiding selfish motives is so well written.
I binge watched this whole thing on netshort and I am obsessed. The pacing is fast but the emotions land hard. The mix of fantasy elements like the phoenix and real human drama works so well. If you like stories about underdogs rising up against evil families, you need to watch this immediately.
The transformation of Sparrow into Princess Jade is absolutely wild. One minute she is begging for mercy in rags, the next she is being forced into a royal gown. The emotional whiplash is real. Watching her cry while the Queen coldly explains her duty gave me chills. This drama knows how to hit hard with family trauma.
