Outlaw Gauguin and his partner Susan rob a train and stumble upon Jenna, a sheriff's wife whose husband has been killed by Confederate deserters. To obtain the gold mine, Gauguin takes a dangerous gamble and strikes a deal with Jenna: he will impersonate Sheriff Louis and take the post in Yellowstone. Returning to his homeland after twenty years, Gauguin uses the sheriff's identity to hunt down the men who slaughtered the Charles family.
